What are cookies?

Cookies are small text strings that a website can send and install, while browsing, on the user's device, in order to store some information about the user; this information will then be retransmitted to the web server that hosts the site on subsequent accesses.

What are cookies used for?

Cookies are used for different purposes: to perform computer authentication (for example to access the personal account), monitor sessions and preserve user settings when switching from one web page to another (remembering for example the language of visualization of the site, storage of information on specific configurations regarding users who access the web server, storage of browsing preferences, collection of anonymous statistical data (for example to monitor access to the site), marketing.

Cookies can first be divided into two broad categories, concerning the subjective profile: first-party cookies, installed by the operator of the site the user is visiting and third-party cookies, installed by different services (for example Google, Facebook, etc. …).

Regarding the time profile, on the other hand, we have session cookies, which are automatically deleted when the browser is closed; persistent cookies, which instead remain until the pre-established expiration date.

Finally, cookies can be divided into technical or necessary cookies, necessary for browsing the website in order to guarantee the service, for example used to perform authentication, remember in which language the site is viewed, etc ...; analytics or statistical cookies, used by website managers to collect information on the number of users and how they visit the site, and then process statistics on the service and its use; profiling or marketing cookies used to lead back to specific, identified or identifiable subjects, specific actions or behavioral patterns recurring in the use of the features offered by the service (pattern) in order to create profiles to be grouped into homogeneous clusters, so that it is possible send targeted advertising messages, i.e. in line with the preferences expressed by the user in the context of surfing the net.

For the purpose of their installation and use, technical cookies do not require the user's consent, and are therefore also indicated as necessary, while profiling cookies, both first and third-party, can only be used with the consent of the of the user; finally, analytics or statistical cookies are compared to technical cookies only if they collect anonymous data, otherwise they are also subject to the user's prior consent.

What kind of cookies does this site use?

This site uses technical cookies, necessary to ensure an adequate level of site security (for example by preventing Cross-Site Scripting attacks and distinguishing human users from bots), to remember the login made by the user during the session, avoiding to having to authenticate at each page change, to remember the user's display language and to memorize the consent expressed by means of the retractable banner on the homepage.

There are also statistical cookies, which have the purpose of memorizing the page views by users, in order to be able to provide us with updated statistics on the use of the services offered. By clicking on the "Reject all" button of the retractable banner on the homepage these cookies will not be installed, since it is necessary to obtain the prior consent for installation.

STORAGE TIME

Technical cookies are stored in the user's device with different timing, some are deleted when the browsing session is closed (so-called session cookies), while others are stored with times ranging from 30 minutes to 2 years.

Statistical cookies are stored with times ranging from 1 day to two years.

DEACTIVATION OF COOKIES ON THE BROWSER

Each user can configure their browser not to automatically accept cookies.  It is possible to delete all cookies installed in the browser or block the installation of new ones.  To obtain specific instructions for each type of browser, select one of the following links:

Through the browser settings it is then possible to delete cookies and navigation data (each browser has its own mode, so it is necessary to follow the appropriate guides on the web); by doing so and returning to the site, the banner will be repeated and it will be possible to renew or express consent again. It is good to remember that this operation could delete other data saved in the browser and also referring to other sites (for example passwords) and it is therefore necessary to select only the functions for deleting cookies and navigation data (for example the history and memory browser cache).

Finally, it is possible to activate the “Do Not Track” option, present in most of the latest generation browsers. Websites designed to respect this option, when activated, should automatically stop collecting some of your browsing data. As mentioned, however, not all websites are set up to respect this option.

However, we do not recommend the total disabling of cookies since it could make it impossible to navigate, and it is advisable to choose the setting to disable only the tracking elements.
